It may be hard to believe but Barbie has been around for more than half a century. She has been a vital part of the toy industry since her debut at the Toy Fair in New York in 1959. The anatomically incorrect doll has delved in every possible career, such as astronaut, police officer, doctor, and George Washington.

Critics argue Barbie has distorted beauty standards in little girls; a negative impact that follows them well into adulthood. Here is a list of people who took things too far with their extreme need to imitate Barbie.

#1. Azusa Sakamoto.

When Azusa was only 15 years old, she became obsessed with American culture. Part of her love for everything Americana, included Barbie. She began buying and collecting everything she could get her hands that had to do with the famous doll. She left her native Japan for sunny California. She owns a Barbie themed nail salon in Los Angeles. She estimates she has spent over $70,000 on Barbie clothes, toys, accessories, and anything she can get her hands on.

#2. Alicia Amira.

Alicia said that as early as nine years old she wanted to look like a "bimbo." She had to wait until she turned 18 to have a $5,000 breast augmentation. But Amira is not done. Her dream is to look as much like Barbie as possible with more surgeries planned in the future. She considers this, he full-time career.

#3. Jeremy Scott.

Creative director for Moschino, Scott designed matching Ken and Barbie outfits he and supermodel Stella Maxwell wore for the 2015 spring runway. Mattel later sold the toy version of the high-end designer for a mere $200.

Bennett has spent over $25,000 on plastic surgeries with the goal to look like Barbie. She also participates in online hypnosis sessions to go "brainless." Her ultimate goal is to be seen as as sex doll.

#5. Kerry Miles.

Miles found herself bored with her life. The mother of one, found her purpose when she realized she wanted to look just like Barbie. Her fixation has led her to spend over $100,000 on cosmetic surgeries. She has also set aside an additional $20,000 in case her daughter decides to follow in her footsteps. She hopes her daughter begins her Barbie transformation with a liposuction and breast augmentation.
