Female Jogger Fights Off Rapist With Super Effective Self-Defense Tactics.

Women who take up running know that aside from training their bodies, they always have to be vigilant about their safety. Regardless of how big the city or the time of day, female joggers have to be cautious. Women among the running community have grown accustomed to being cat-called, followed by cars, and even had close calls of men hiding in the less populated section of their routes. The threat is real and not to be taken lightly; female joggers have been kidnapped, beaten, raped, and killed.

Kelly Herron was training for a marathon, running along the Golden Gardens Park in Seattle on Sunday, March 4, 2017. That day she came face to face with her biggest fear and that of many female joggers.

Gary Steiner, a registered level 3 sex offender in Arizona, was standing behind the woman. "He immediately took me down to the ground, hit both my knees and legs and then it was a fight on the bathroom floor and I just kept screaming, 'Not today M****F****r!'" Herron recalled.

The 36-year-old was able to get into one of the bathroom stalls but 40-year-old Steiner went to the stall beside her and began punching her face from the side.

Three weeks earlier, Herron had taken self-defense classes through work and used those new skills to fight her attacker.
