On Wednesday, March 8, 2017, Steiner was charged with second-degree attempted rape. There was also a standing warrant for Steiner for failing to register as a sex offender. Steiner admitted to the police detective that he went to the bathroom with the intention of raping a woman. He is being held on $750,000 bail.

Despite the traumatic ordeal, Herron has no plans to stop jogging. In fact, three days after the incident she returned to Golden Gardens Park. "That was the only thing that was motivating me … I cannot be raped by this guy in this place," Herron says. "We don’t have to go down. We don’t have to be quiet about it."
