What Horror’s Scariest Stars Look Like In Real Life.

When you appear as a scary looking villain in a horror flick, your true appearance is often masked by special effects, makeup, and, you guessed it, a hockey mask. But in real life, these supernatural creatures are no different than the rest of us. Most of you would probably walk by them on the street without realizing the roles they played. This is actually quite an advantage for them, as it gives these actors the chance to avoid being typecast in Hollywood, but it's bad for us, because when we come face to face with them, we won't know whether we should be afraid of them or not.

Samara caused havoc and brought terror to audiences in "The Ring" in 2002.

In the film, anyone who watched a videotape of Samara would get a call informing them that they had 7 days to live. Then they'd get a visit from Samara herself as she crawled out of the well and into your living room, and killed you.

In real life, Daveigh Chase, aka the actress who played Samara, is quite lovely.

The 26-year-old actress has appeared in movies like "Donnie Darko" and Lilo Pelekai in "Lilo & Stitch." But she's also starred on "Charmed", "ER" and is best known for playing Rhonda on HBO's "Big Love."

Jason Voorhees was seen very little during the first "Friday the 13th" movie in 1980.

But the boy that dragged Alice into the water in a dream sequence towards the end of the movie was only 15 when he took on the iconic character.

Paramount Pictures

Ari Lehman was the first Jason Voorhees and was approved immediately after auditioning.

The now 51-year-old actor, composer and performing artist may not be as popular as the legacy he left behind, but we can all see a bit of a mean streak in his eyes.

Freddy Krueger first haunted our dreams in "A Nightmare On Elm Street."

The character's dark wit, humor, and thirst for blood gave audience members nightmares with his hideous looking burnt flesh and sharp claw glove, which he used to murder his victims.
